August 06, 2026 3 min read
Book Week 2026 runs Saturday 22 August to Friday 28 August, which means the parade at your school will almost certainly land somewhere between Monday 24 and Friday 28. Worth pencilling in now, because the note usually comes home about four days before.
This year's theme is Symphony of Stories, illustrated by Briony Stewart, and it is a milestone one: the CBCA Book of the Year Awards turn 80 in 2026.
The bit nobody says out loud
Book Week is wonderful. The costume is not.
Somewhere between the cardboard, the hot glue and the 9pm realisation that you own no green fabric, a lovely celebration of reading turns into a craft project nobody asked for. And the costume gets worn once.
So this is our honest position: a shirt is a completely legitimate Book Week outfit. Kids in the parade care about being in the parade. A tee that leans into the theme does the job, goes back in the drawer, and gets worn again in September.
Wearing the theme

If you want to be on-theme without decoding it, the Symphony of Stories designs do the work:
For the kid who forgot (or the parent who did)

There is one design we make specifically for the morning it all falls apart: this is my book week t-shirt. It says exactly that, it takes zero preparation, and it usually gets the biggest laugh in the line-up.
For teachers, librarians and grown-up readers

Book Week is a staff dress-up day too, and it is the one week of the year a bookish tee is technically workwear. Booktrovert, Easily Distracted By Books, The Book Is Always Better and Oops I Got Another Book all sit in adult sizing and none of them expire on 28 August.
"Amazing quality as ever, definitely a gift that made someone smile" - Therese
And for the sibling too small for the parade, the Book Club Baby bodysuit covers the photo.
Why you will not find licensed characters here
We get asked every August, so: we do not print copyrighted book characters, and we will not. Every design we sell is either our own artwork, or purchased from another creative source. It is why our Book Week range is theme-led and slogan-led rather than a wall of familiar faces, and it is a line we would rather hold than blur.
Ordering in time
Everything is made to order and printed right here in Australia, so the design is produced once you place the order rather than pulled off a shelf. Current processing is 1-3 business days, then Australia Post on top.
For a parade in that 24-28 August window, ordering by Friday 14 August gives standard post comfortable room. After that, Express Post is the sensible choice, and there is a 24hr rush upgrade at checkout if you are reading this the week of.
Browse the full Book Week collection, and if the school calendar is your nemesis generally, we also worked out when 100 Days of School actually falls in Australia.
With 10K+ 5-star reviews from Aussie families, you can order knowing you are in good hands.
